Open Water Swimming

I enjoy swimming in the ocean as opposed to the pool for a number of reasons.

Primarily, there is a lack of chlorine and other chemicals, but the added buoyancy from the salt water is wonderful as well.  You don’t have to worry about turns or boundaries as much as you would swimming in a traditional pool.  Keeping a straight line can require some extra work, but once you learn how to keep your head up a bit, it comes fairly easily.

Exercising, be it my personal preference to swim in the ocean, or other forms are important to keep healthy and strong.  In my 70s, it keeps my bones strong and body healthy.  Aside from the long term physical benefits, finishing a swim makes my body feel much better and mood improved.

30 minutes or less of open water swimming each day can make a world of difference.  Feel free to look at my other pages, some still under construction for articles on ocean swimming, and swimming in general.
